Mission

To prepare well trained professionals in the Speech-Language Pathology field who can deliver excellent clinical services to a variety of populations with ethical and professional practice standards. The program is committed to foster research, academic and clinical skills in our students to graduate well educated Speech-Language Pathology professionals. The program also fosters the development of research in our faculty and in our students by promoting the development of outstanding academic credentials and innovative teaching strategies.

 

Vision

To be the first academic choice for students wanting to become Speech Language Pathologist, by providing the best academic and clinical education sustained by the latest technology, materials and knowledge based on evidence.

 

General Objectives

Prepare graduate students to:

  • Provide high quality clinical services.
  • Be eligible for ASHA certification and the Puerto Rico license in speech language pathology.
  • Demonstrate high levels of critical thinking and clinical decision making skills.
  • Identify, recognize and maintain highly ethical personal and  professional standards.
 

Goal of the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology Program

The program has the ultimate goal of increasing the number of qualified speech-language pathologists in the island. Graduates will be able to supply the high demand of services to the  population with speech, language, articulation, voice, fluency, swallowing, and hearing problems in Puerto Rico and the hispanic population, and minorities all over the United States.
